A Giant Step Forward

In what many will view as a bold step forward, I can tell you it is nothing short of gigantic. Here is a copy of an email sent to Passport LLC Independent Associates;

"Dear Passport Independent Associates,

In 2001, I founded Passport as a solution to a problem that I encountered in the network marketing industry. I wanted people to have a fair opportunity to accomplish their goals in an honest environment. I surveyed the marketplace at the time and could not find a company that seemed to provide the environment that I wanted to be a part of. Thus, I launched Passport, LLC.
Passport was designed to be fair, simple, and easy to explain.

Since its launch, Passport has shown a profit each month. As in any new company there were areas that needed improvement and we addressed them as they arose. During a meeting with Ty Tribble (president) and Dave Stone (vice president) we discussed a number of areas in which we thought Passport needed to make advancements. Enhanced compensation (within our unilevel plan) providing depth bonuses, multiple enrollment options, enhanced back-office features, expansion into Canada, create a closer sense of team and community, dramatically increase Associate income, and the addition of various cutting edge products were but a few of the items under review. Each one of these enhancements would represent a major step forward in our progression as a team, enabling our Independent Associates to develop more customers, enhance their network of fellow Associates and realize a greater return on their time investment.

It was during this time period that a friend contacted me with a way for us to take a giant leap forward in our evolution as a group of people committed to the same ideals and goals. That individual was Marshall Douglas. After numerous discussions it was apparent to Ty, Dave and myself that the Passport team had, not only the opportunity to be a part of something that met each requirement we laid out, but also offered all of us a more progressive vehicle with which we could positively impact our industry.

During our conversations Marshall asked me if I was “married” to Passport as a means to accomplish our goals. My response was, and always has been the same; I am committed to being a part of an honest, fair company and provide my friends/associates with a way to accomplish their goals without the negative influences associated with so many network marketing companies. Period. I told him that I did not launch Passport for any other reason than I could not find the same values and principles in another company. I am proud to announce that we have been invited to partner with Marshall Douglass and take a giant leap forward in our evolution.

Ironically, while Passport was getting its start, so to was a company called Oasis LifeSciences. In fact, our goals were very similar. Their Chairman was formerly the CEO and President of Avon. Through his leadership Avon grew from $700 million dollars to become the largest direct sales company in the world. In addition, their CEO was the President/CEO of Nature’s Way as well as the former Sr. V.P. of McKesson Drug Company. As a point of interest Marshall Douglas, over the past 18 months, has become the 9th largest bonus check recipient in Oasis LifeSciences and currently serves as Vice Chairman of their Field Leadership Council. We will be working directly with him.

Oasis LifeSciences was founded by Bill Lee. His holdings include AloeCorp--the world’s largest producer of raw aloe. In fact, AloeCorp aloe is used in thousands of pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and functional foods products, from Gillette to Johnson and Johnson. Among his other holdings Mr. Lee owns Unigen Pharmaceuticals. His companies have more combined research space, more scientists, more published studies, patents and publications than any other natural products company in the world.

As stated in their literature, “The Oasis LifeSciences is the ‘point of the spear’ - a delivery vehicle for the vast economic network of companies owned by Bill Lee who calls his companies collectively an ECONET, a global resource structure unmatched by any in the neutraceutical industry.”

The opportunity we all have been presented with mirrors the initiatives that were currently underway in Passport.

For example:
1. Multiple enrollment options
2. Cutting-edge, scientifically developed product line
3. Unilevel pay plan w/lucrative depth bonuses
4. Product-driven focus
5. Customer development
6. Team orientation
7. Canada launch in February ‘06
8. Increased compensation to Associates

Rest assured that the high quality Passport products will still be available to you and your customers. However, we will dissolve our multi-level compensation plan and offer our products directly to you at a major discount. You will be able to service your customers (and your own household) and make more money in the process. I will send a separate memo detailing this shortly.

Needless to say I am thrilled with this development. I have always stated that we were going to make an enormous difference in this industry. This giant step forward, for each individual associated with Passport, offers us the opportunity to do so much faster. I am also convinced that this offers your family the opportunity to achieve your personal financial goals in an expedited fashion.

We will be updating you regularly. In fact, this gives me the opportunity to get back to the work I love; being in the field with people I admire. I look forward to seeing you face-to-face and continuing to grow together.

Always Lead,
Robert “Bo” Short"

I am reading this information and it was unclear what Eric thought of the information in the article he was commenting on. Was he thinking the proposed merger was a good thing?

I will gladly sponsor anyone, without regard to the level of start-up package they choose.

Well I have certainly heard, if you are serious and want my time you need to come in at the top level and by the way there are these books and tapes you need. These are the people who get my time. In most cases there is some heavy front end bonuses involved for the enroller.

That's funny Ty because I was thinking the same thing. Nevertheless it's true. And the guy is someone in your direct downline. What would you do if I told you his name? Would we hear that "this is an isolated incident, an anomoly" and we move along?

Or would we see some definitive, public action to put an end to the behavior? I know what Quixtar would do. What would you do?

Your response will help me determine whether or not I should send you his name.

Ah -- yes, the $1,200 start-up (the only level a "serious" mlm'r would join for)-- you get $300 worth of products, a dvd that costs a nickel - and the upline sponsor gets $200 for doing nothing. Sounds like Bo makes out quite nicely in this one. I ran very quickly from this one 4 years ago when an associate told me the $1,200 start-up is the most "rewarding". LOL - gotta love these squirrly deals.
