Be Yourself

For the first few years of my involvement in network marketing, an aspect of the training I received centered on creating a successful image. I was taught it was important to present myself as a professional business owner. There was an applied science of what is proper business attire for attracting the widest possible audience. The power of association with the "successful" leaders in the business was stressed consistently. The motto of "fake it until you make it" was fully integrated into the mindset training process.

This process was very successful..... at taking one's personality OUT of the business. Instead, I found it encouraged conditioned responses in otherwise independent thinking people. I felt as if I were completely removed from myself.

Though we could all use some help and guidance through various aspects of our business development, I think it does much more harm than good to suggest that people need to undergo a personality transplant.

This type of business can be a hell of a lot more fun if you're not spending so much energy trying to be someone or something you're not. Your individuality and the unique quality of your personality is a major key to your future success. Don't be too quick to bargain it away. Personalities do not come with the enrollment kit - you have to bring your own.

"I yam what I yam and that's all what I yam."

Ahhh . . . the wisdom of the sages! Sometimes the truth comes in small packages. Thanks for the reminder that simple truths far outweigh the collective "wisdom" of the merchants of deception.

Thanks, Popeye, for just being who you are! Way to make a difference!
